Position Description

We are seeking a highly motivated, hands-on Technical Leader to design and implement the next series of features for our AgilePDF product. The primary responsibility of the Principal Software Engineer position is to support the delivery of new features to our product working in coordination with other Software Engineers and project managers. The candidate will be involved in the requirements gathering, design, implementation, unit test, systems test, UAT and deployment and subsequent user support aspects of the project.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated their ability to develop and implement medium to large sized Java based web applications, ability to bring innovation to the development process. In particular the candidate should be able to demonstrate awareness of new technologies that might influence the direction of product development.

We are looking for a senior level developer with a record of successful Java application development. You must be able to analyze designs against requirements, technologies, and project schedules, and articulate the advantages and disadvantages of the various design choices and strategies to management as well as the technical staff members. The candidate will work closely with architects and project manager in the design and technical specification, in addition to being an individual contributor through all phases of the project. Our environment is fast-paced and creative. The candidate must be motivated to explore new technologies and be able to apply them to business problems.
 

Primary Responsibilities:

• Define, design, develop, document and maintain new features in the AgilePDF product.
• Install, configure new instances of the AgilePDF product.
• Troubleshoot issues in the AgilePDF product.
• Work with other departments in the company towards definition of new areas.

Education and Experience:

• BSc in Computer Science, Masters Degree in Computer Science a plus.
• Full development life cycle experience from requirements definition through design, coding, unit testing, release and maintenance.
• Minimum of 5 years of Java Web Application development experience within a Linux/Unix environment.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully deliver technology solutions.
• Strong communication skills.

Skills and Knowledge:

• Key Technologies: Java, Javascript, AJAX, Hibernate, Struts 2.0, Spring Framework, Servlets, XML, HTML, SQL, Postgres, Linux.
• Ease with Linux user and admin side required.
• Strong troubleshooting skills required.
• Strong experience in system design and modelling required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
• Experience with source code control management tools, selenium, TestNG, iText, Design Patterns a plus.
• Experience with system scalability solutions a strong plus.
• Ability to collaborate with application development peers, business users and technical supports teams.
• Aptitude for understanding and defining technology and architecture solutions.
• Passion for learning and figuring out new things, ability to bring that passion to enrich a development team.
