This individual will provide frontline development support for Brown, with primary clients including Public Affairs and University Relations (PAUR); high-level administration; academic departments and other academic and administrative units.  This work may include design, analysis, programming, testing and ongoing maintenance of University web applications. Also, this person may update documentation and assist in application implementation.  

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or a BA, BS, or equivalent education and experience;
  • 3-5 years Web-development experience, including experience developing database-driven Web sites and site-management tools; knowledge and experience with Web authoring and scripting; proven experience with technologies such as HTML, XML, CSS, Macromedia Contribute and Dreamweaver; knowledge of SQL, CGI, Perl, Java and Java scripting, PHP, ASP, Flash, and Photoshop; familiarity with server/networking technologies; knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
  • User interface design and design skills strength;
  • Accessibility proficiency; strong planning, organizational, and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently with little supervision, as well as in a team-centered environment; detail-oriented commitment to troubleshooting, testing, and proofing all work; enthusiasm and ability to learn quickly and to be willing to learn new application development skills as the Web evolves.
