Providence College (PC)
Private Catholic, coed college
Originally founded in 1917 as an all-male school, Providence College (PC) is now coed, enrolling about 4,600 undergraduate and 900 graduate students. It is the only college or university in North America to be administered by the Dominican Order of Friars.
The 2008 US News and World Report ranks Providence College number 2 in the category of Master's Universities in the North.
Providence College offers 50 majors and 24 minors. Among the Undergraduate Areas of Study at Providence College:
To provide support and training to faculty, Providence College launched the Instructional Technology Development Program (IDTP) in 2002.
The Providence College Department of Mathematics & Computer Science has 18 faculty members and in addition to a Computer Science major, offers several undergraduate minors including:
PC's School of Continuing Education offers opportunities for adult learners including a choice from among 17 areas of study and 8 certificate programs like:
- Business Studies
- Business Administration
- Organizational Communication
PC virtually links students with advisors and professors through CyberLearning Labs' ANGEL course managment system.
