Founded in 1863 as Bryant and Stratton National Business College, Bryant University offered primarily business degrees. In August 2004, Bryant College officially became Bryant University with expanded liberal arts offerings and two colleges, the College of Business and the College of Arts and Sciences.

Bryant now enrolls 3,200 part and full-time undergraduate students and 550 graduate students, as well as employing 241 part and full-time professors. The great majority of students are enrolled in the College of Business.
