RISBDC - Developing Successful Negotiation Strategies
More than anyone, the entrepreneur needs to develop effective strategies for negotiations. The responsibility for negotiating critical deals or contracts with landlords, equipment leases, vendors, suppliers, and clients lies personally and daily on a small business owner’s shoulders. The consequences of their negotiation skills today may dictate a business’ financial success or failure in the long term. This three part series is designed as an overview of successful negotiation strategies specifically with the small business owner in mind (although it would be practical for anyone). Using role play exercises, lecture and Q&A, emphasis is placed on collaborative techniques in situations that would be “real” to a start up or established small business owner/manager. Attendees will learn a generalized framework to continue to develop their negotiating skills outside of the seminar, as well as understand real life and practical suggestions for business situations they might face every day.
